Brunch and lunch in Portreath
We’re a café and deli at 2 The Square in Portreath, and we cook brunch and lunch from 9am to 2.30pm, Tuesday to Sunday. It’s comfort food, made fresh and changed with the seasons, so what’s on the board this week might not be there next month.
What’s on
Brunch is served all day, always cooked to order. There’s a brunch bowl with Cornish yoghurt, our granola and whatever toppings we have that day, plus bacon and eggs and other brunch plates.
For lunch there are sandwiches and toasties, jacket potatoes, homemade soup, and a few salads that change with whatever’s good. Our salads are proper lunches, not a pile of leaves. A few things are always on (the tuna melt isn’t going anywhere), and the rest rotates.
The coffee is from Potter Beans, and there’s a cake counter. The caramel shortbread has a reputation.
Gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian and vegan
This is a big reason Jay Bird exists. We wanted everyone in a group to be able to sit at the same table and eat something properly good, not have one sad “free-from” option.
Lots of our dishes can be swapped to gluten-free or dairy-free, and there are vegetarian and vegan choices every day. If you have an allergy or something you can’t eat, tell us when you order. We’ll talk you through what’s in everything. Dishes in the counter are labelled clearly with allergen information, but you can always ask if you’re unsure.
Kids, babies and dogs
Children are very welcome. We have a kids menu, highchairs, baby changing, toys and games, and babyccinos. Dogs are welcome too.
Takeaway
Everything can go in a bag if you’d rather eat on the beach or at your desk. Our Deli Lunch deal is any sandwich or salad, a bag of crisps or a chocolate bar and a soft drink for £12, takeaway only.
Finding us
We’re in the middle of the village, at 2 The Square, Portreath, TR16 4LA, right next door to the village shop. There’s plenty of roadside parking in the winter, and in the summer you can park in the main beach car park and stroll past the harbour to reach us.
Opening hours: Tuesday to Friday 8.30 to 4, Saturday 9 to 4, Sunday 9 to 3.
(Closed Mondays and Tuesdays in November.)
Food is served 9am to 2.30pm.
